Acceptable Use Policy
Version 2026-09-24
This policy says what you may not do with Alumys Tools. It applies to every account holder, every organization and everyone they let use the service, including examinees. "You" means the customer and its users. It is incorporated into the Terms of Service, and Alumys may suspend or terminate access for a breach of it under those terms.
1. Lawful use
- Use the service only where and as the law allows. You are responsible for compliance with the employment, education, consumer-protection, privacy and anti-discrimination laws that apply to your examinations and to the decisions you make with the results.
- Do not use the service to make a decision about a person that the law requires a human to make, without a human making it.
2. Examinations and examinees
- Do not run examinations whose content is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, sexually explicit, or that discriminates on a protected characteristic. Content that tests knowledge or skill is not discriminatory because it is difficult.
- Do not collect from examinees more personal data than the examination needs. Do not ask examinees for government identifiers, financial account numbers, health information or protected characteristics through examination content.
- Do not attempt to collect biometric identifiers, camera, microphone or screen recordings of examinees through or alongside the service. Alumys does not offer these features, and this policy prohibits recreating them with other tools during an Alumys examination.
- Do not use examinee contact details for marketing, and do not add examinees to mailing lists, unless they separately consented to that outside the examination.
- Keep the pre-examination notice, contact address and retention setting accurate for your organization. Do not misrepresent who runs an examination.
- Do not invite anyone under 13. For examinees under 18, confirm you hold the consent your jurisdiction and use category require; for K-12 students, record the student-data agreement the service asks for before running examinations.
3. Security and integrity of the service
- Do not probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service, or circumvent its authentication, rate limits or access controls. Report security issues to support@alumys.com instead; see the security page.
- Do not use the code sandbox for anything other than grading submissions: no mining, no network scanning, no attacks on other systems, no attempts to escape the sandbox or exhaust its resources.
- Do not share account credentials or API keys: every person who uses the service gets their own account. Rotate an API key you believe is exposed.
- Do not scrape, crawl or bulk-export the service other than through the export features it provides.
- Do not interfere with another customer's use, and do not attempt to access another organization's data.
4. Content and intellectual property
- Only upload examination content you have the right to use. Do not upload content that infringes copyright, trademark or trade secrets, including copied questions from third-party test publishers.
- Do not upload malware or content designed to harm examinees' devices.
- Do not remove or alter the "Powered by Alumys" attribution where the plan includes it.
5. Abuse of communications
- Invitations, reminders and result emails are sent on your behalf. Do not send them to people who have not agreed to take your examination, and do not use them to send unrelated messages.
- Do not use the service to send spam, phishing or unsolicited commercial messages.
6. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected breaches and remove content, suspend accounts or terminate the agreement, and we will notify you unless the law or an active investigation prevents it. Where a breach is minor and fixable, we will ask you to fix it first. Questions about this policy go to support@alumys.com.
